5 Cleaning Myths
The Maids Columbus • Apr 04, 2014

There are still a considerable number of people who still hold-on to the old cleaning tricks up to date. However, most of these tricks are just but strange myths and most do not really work as they are told. Here are the top 5 cleaning myths:

Hair-spays removes ink stains

Although this myth is still upheld by many people, it doesn’t work the same as it used to. And one of the reasons why they don’t is because they contain low-alcohol content and some hair sprays have no alcohol at all. In order to get good results, make sure you get a hair spray that has high alcohol content.

The use of newspapers to clean windows, mirrors and other glass surfaces is a good idea.

Sometimes this trick work, but it has a number of shortcomings which strangely qualifies it to be just another myth. One major reason is the fact that the papers leaves behind the newsprint residue and the news print sticks on the glass. To avoid this you should consider using glass cleaning products that are readily sold in the market.

The more detergent or soap used the more the cleaning power.

This is a misconception that has traditionally been spread by some manufacturers so as to increase their sale. However, the truth is; when you find out that you are using more detergent or soap; it means that you are using an ineffective washing product.

You ruin your carpet by washing it frequently.

This is a myth that has been in existence for quite a long time. One thing you should know is that when you wash your carpet, you remove the germs and stains that can greatly reduce its life spun. The only thing you should take note of is to ensure that you extract all the water by drying it on the sun or using other artificial drying methods.

Bleaches is the best cleaners.

Well, there are instances that bleach can perform a good job but generally not required in most of the cleaning activities. This is because although they may quickly remove the stain, they also remove the color of the fabric hence causing fading.
